News for Members
Good morning all,
Just wanted to say a big 'well done and thank you' for the two concerts last Thursday. I was very pleased with the band overall; the first one was absolutely super from all angles.
The Burnham performance was unfortunate from the perspective of the size of the park, leaving a lot of the audience unable to hear and there was nothing we could do about it. Having said that, we did receive some great plaudits from both venues, so that was great.
We now have to get into gear for the summer concert in July. As there are people due to be away in the weeks leading up to this next one, we need to be on our toes and practice regularly please. If you are away, then make sure you spend time getting your standard of playing back (and in a lot of cases improving your standards) so we take the band up a step into the next indoor concert.
Wednesday will see us starting the new programme, testing new pieces and honing ones we have used in the past.
I look forward to seeing you there.
This is to confirm the date/details of our Spring Workshop
Sunday February 13th 2022
Start: 1.00pm Finish: around 5.00/5.30pm
Easthampstead Baptist Church, South Hill Road, Bracknell RG12 7NS https://www.ebc-bracknell.org/
Easthampstead Baptist is a superb and comfortable venue, acoustically great and just the right size for our band – all thanks to Kat on this occasion.
There’s plenty of parking around and to the side of the building.
We shall endeavour to stay COVID-safe, as we do routinely for Wednesday evening rehearsals: lateral flow test on the day please, distancing between chairs, masks etc..
Michael will be steering us through an interesting and varied programme of music: we’ll have chance to polish up pieces we’ve worked on recently, in readiness for concerts and summer bandstand gigs, and there’ll be some new music that we probably won’t have seen before – something for everyone! The idea is for all to get to Easthampstead for 1.00pm, arrange chairs and stands etc. ready for ‘baton down’ at 1.30pm. We should be able to have some light refreshments during one [or more] breaks.
If any questions, or if I’ve missed something …… please don’t hesitate to ask a friendly Committee member!
Apologies to those not able to participate in this workshop, we are sorry but overall February 13th was the most popular date.
Best to everyone,
Happy new year, everyone! Don't forget to visit the tally sheet regularly, the dates are now on there for the spring concert and Henley bandstand, among others, so fill in your availability please!

A reminder of MJP's email:
I wanted to thank all of you for doing so well for reaching such a promising standard in the lead up to the Windsor bandstand engagement. Well done, all!
To master a piece with the complexity of Doyen in such a short space of time was excellent.
The people who actually played on the day did a really excellent job, with a full sound and a togetherness which did the band proud.
I'm sure the rehearsals and the concert itself will put us in very good fettle for any engagements coming our way in the future. We now need to continue practising and improving in both individual skills and ensemble playing to really put the band on the musical map.
My hope is that we will then be able to do an even better video for the Christmas concert. I'm going to have a chat with my video/sound gurus to try and get a concert piece (from the actual concert) put out for Christmas; a sort of musical Christmas card for everyone to have access to.
4 May 2021
Well, it's been a long time coming but we're finally on our way back to live music! You should all have Wednesday 19th May in the diary as our likely restart date for rehearsals at Burnham URC. Still subject to any government announcements between now and then, but it's looking good. We will be using the worship area at the URC so keeping well clear of the sweaty dancers (!), and there will be full compliance with the remaining requirements for distancing etc.
You should also have had a Muzodo to confirm availability for a workshop at Burnham Park Hall on Friday 9th July. If you haven't already done so, PLEASE RESPOND to the Muzodo link.
Watch our for more instructions, we still need to keep everyone safe but isn't it fab that we'll soon be playing together again?
16 March 2020
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all rehearsals are cancelled until further notice.
Keep safe everyone, and keep practising!
